The opening of the 4th regional training on International Human Rights Mechanisms- 2 July, 2010

The fourth regional training course on International Human Rights Mechanisms will start tomorrow in Cairo Institute for Human Rights Studies, and will last for seven days: 2-8 July, 2010.

The workshop will include 18 lawyers and human rights defenders working in human rights NGOs in Egypt and eight Arab countries (Bahrain – Saudi Arabia – Sudan – UAE – Yemen – Tunisia – Lebanon – Palestine).

Prominent international, regional and Egyptian trainers will provide the training. It is worth noting that this is the fourth workshop on international and regional mechanisms for human rights, where it is being organized at the Cairo Institute for Human Rights Studies since February 2008.

The workshop aims at developing the knowledge and the ability of human rights defenders in Egypt and the Arab region on international human rights mechanisms and focus on both theoretical and practical aspects.
After the training, participants will have the chance to attend United Nations Human Rights Council sessions in Geneva and apply what they have learnt during the training.
