As the Syrian struggle for a life of freedom and democratic rights enters its second year,the Cairo Institute for Human Rights Studies (CIHRS), in cooperation with a community of Syrian citizens residing in Egypt, is honored to invite you to join the upcoming event entitled “Bedna Hurreya – We Want Freedom.” The event will commemorate the first anniversary of the Syrian Revolution on Thursday, March 15 at 6 p.m. at the Open Air Theater of the Cairo Opera House.
The organization of this event arises from the firm belief in the power of ordinary people everywhere to help stop the bloodshed in Syria. To this end,this event represents a message of support from the Egyptian people to their Syrian neighbors.
The event will open with Key figures, both Egyptian and Syrian and is honored to also include a special recorded message by internationally renowned caricaturist Ali Ferazat, who will also contribute to the event with a display of his selected works dealing with the revolution in Syria. A direct message from the Syrian people to the world will also be presented in a documentary screening and a photo exhibition portraying “The Truths Behind the Syrian Revolution.” Victims’ testimonies will be heard, serving as first-hand witnesses of the brutality of the situation in Syria.
The event will include a wide participation from Egyptian and Syrian artists. Wust el Ballad band, poet Ahmed Hadad, singer Mohamed Mohsen , who will sing with Syrian Oud artist Somer Nasser, and Syrian revolutionary singer Abdallah Sharaf will all be performing.
