CIHRS Director Meets with the French Ambassador for Human Rights

Bahey Eldin Hassan, the Director of the Cairo Institute for Human Rights Studies, met today with French Ambassador for Human Rights, Francois Zimeray, at 5:00 PM CLT at the CIHRS Cairo office. The meeting lasted nearly 50 minutes. Present at the meeting were, First Secretary of the Embassy of France in Egypt, Ahlem Gharbi, CIHRS Assistant Director, Sally Sami, and Zameray’s assistant.

Human rights issues were raised during the meeting, including the state of emergency, freedom of opinion, discriminations against religious minorities, restrictions on civil society, student union elections in Egyptian universities, and the upcoming parliamentary elections, particularly freedom of expression in the pre-election phase.
