In International Advocacy Program by CIHRS

14 civil society organizations have addressed an open letter to the new Director of the European Investment Bank (EIB), Nadia Calvino, ahead of the EU Finance Ministers’ meeting to discuss the future of the EIB. The letter urges Director Calvino to make crucial changes to amend the Bank’s priorities and procedures so that it will serve the public good and not corporate interests: by ending support to fossil fuel firms, directing EIB investments to high social impact project and supporting the poor and environmental protection, implementing rigorous due diligence & monitoring procedures, including on human rights, and making the bank more democratically governed and accountable.
