The Cairo Institute for Human Rights Studies’ Cairo office hosted a meeting yesterday, December 13, between Jeffery Feltman, United Nations’ Under-Secretary-General for Political Affairs and 6 Egyptian human rights organizations to discuss the human rights situation in Egypt.
The meeting focused on current developments in Egypt and the importance of protecting human rights within this context. In the discussion of the state’s counter terrorism strategies, Indeed, the participants made a clear link between human rights violations and the consistent failure of Egypt’s War on Terror.
The following organizations participated in the meeting: The Cairo Institute for Human Rights Studies, Nazra for Feminist Studies, The Egyptian Initiative for Personal Rights, The Egyptian Center for Economic and Social Rights, Andalus Institute for Tolerance & Anti-violence Studies and the Egyptian Commission for Rights and Freedoms.
