The Cairo Institute of Human Rights Studies (CIHRS) is honored to invite you to the press conference on the findings of the FIDH, and partners, mission to the Darfur refugee camps in eastern Chad. The conference will be held at the venue of CIHRS, on Wednesday 27th of June 2007 at 11 am. The mission was undertaken from the 13th of June 2007 till the 23rd and aimed at examining the humanitarian situation of the Sudanese refugees. The findings of the mission are based on testimonies of the Sudanese refugees. Organizations participated in the mission were FIDH and its member organisations in Chad and Sudan, (Ligue tchadienne des droits de l’Homme; Association tchadienne pour la promotion et la défense des droits de l’Homme; Sudanese Organisation Against Torture), and its partner organisations, Cairo Institute for Human Rights Studies and Union inter-africaine des droits de l’Homme.

• Moataz Elfegeiry (CIHRS programs director)
It is worth mentioning that three other press conferences will be held in Wiesbaden (Germany), Chad (Ndjamena) and, Accra (Ghana), on the 27th, to declare the findings of the mission, as well. These four press conferences are addressing the ordinary session of the executive council of the African union, and the parliamentary assembly of the European Union, which is to take decisions regarding the European policy towards Sudan. The FIDH and its partners will later issue a detailed report including the testimonies gathered by the mission and a short documentary on its work.
