Yesterday, Tuesday, September 26, 2012, the Minister of Interior, General Ahmed Gamal Al Din, met with several representatives of human rights organizations to discuss their evaluation of the security situation on the ground as well as the Ministry’s adherence to human rights standards. Those in attendances stressed the importance of increased consultation and communication between the Ministry and human rights organizations in the coming months.
The meeting, hosted by the Minister of Interior, was attended by Mr. Bahey El Din Hassan, the director of the Cairo Institute for Human Rights Studies, Mr. Ala’a Shalaby, Secretary General of the Arab Organization for Human Rights, Mr. Mohsen Awad, a former member of the National Council for Human Rights, Mohamed Ali Zaree, the president of the Arab Penal Reform Organization, Mona Zu Al Faqar, a lawyer and feminist human rights activist, Nasser Amin, the director of the Arab Center for the Independence of the Judiciary and the Legal Profession, Negad Al Boraey, a lawyer and human rights activist , and Mr. Nageb Gobrael, a lawyer and the president of the Egyptian Association for Human Rights.
